Lunar New Year Holidays – Futures Market & Stock Options Market Temporary Margin Requirement Arrangements

All markets operated by the Hong Kong Futures Exchange and the Traded Options Market will be closed for business from 8th February 2016 to 10th February 2016. In order to assure that safeguards are in place against potential market risks that may arise during the aforesaid period when some of the major markets are open, the Clearing House has decided to adopt a series of temporary margin requirement arrangements. Meanwhile, our Company will adopt the following measures accordingly:
1. Hang Seng Index (“HSI”), Mini-Hang Seng Index (“MHI”), H-Shares Index (“HHI”), Mini-H-Shares Index (“MCH”), HSCEI Dividend Point Index (“DHH”) and USD/CNH Futures (“CUS”) futures contracts
The margin levels of HSI, MHI, HHI, MCH and CUS futures contracts will be increased temporarily after the close of business of T session on 4th February 2016 (refer to Appendix I), and will be restored to the current levels after the close of business on 5th February 2016, the spread margin rates will remain unchanged during this period. The margin levels of DHH will remain unchanged.
2. Stock Options The margin intervals for all options classes will be increased temporarily after the close of business on 4th February 2016 (refer to Appendix II). The margin intervals will be restored to normal after the close of business on 5th February 2016. Notes:
The margin requirement would vary with different portfolio especially for those paired options and deep out of money options. Increased margin intervals need to be fulfilled in the morning on 5th Feb 2016.
