Customers trading U.S. equities have the option to tag (label) LIMIT, STOP, and STOP-LIMIT orders as GTC orders, meaning that a particular order will continue working within the IB system and within the market place until it is either executed or canceled by the customer.

Note that GTC orders will also automatically be cancelled under the following conditions:

• if any type of corporate action is taken on a security
• if you do not log into your IB account for 90 days

For market centers that do not accept "native" GTC orders, IB simulates the order type by resubmitting the relevant order each business day upon the opening of the market center. For a list of market centers that indicates which market centers accept native GTC orders and to which market centers IB will simulate GTC orders.

You can label any U.S. equities limit, stop or stop-limit order as Good-Til-Cancelled. This ensures that your order will continue to work until it executes or is cancelled. When you create an order, select GTC from the Time in Force field.
