Power Futures - Overseas Futures product trading


  1. Can I manage all my locals and overseas futures, options position using the same Power Futures account? How will the buying power and margin be calculated?
  2. How can I open a Power Futures overseas futures account?
  3. Under what circumstances should AE commission scheme be applied?
  4. Does the system support Auction Order for overseas futures?
  5. When will my Stop Loss Limit Orders/ Up trigger Orders / Down trigger Orders become invalid?

    You can manage all your overseas and local transactions with Power Futures. Buying power is dependent on all local and overseas futures positions. Local futures/options margin requirement is set by SPAN, while gross margin is required for overseas futures.

  2. How can I open a Power Futures overseas futures account?

    Existing Power Futures user Non-existing Power Futures user, using Web Futures for trading New client
    Users can login and trade directly

    Login name: 01-XXXXXXX-00 (in full)
    Users are able to check their order status and account information, however, trading is not available on Web Futures.
    Please contact our customer service hotline (852-35833388) for information about Power Futures.
    Login details will be provided after establishment of futures account.

  3. Under what circumstances should AE commission scheme be applied?

    Power Futures electronic overseas futures commission scheme applies to electronic trade using Power Futures only. AE commission scheme will apply to trades done not by way of Power Futures, but through account executive, 24 hours investment centre under any circumstances. Different commission scheme is also applied for electronic overseas futures trade using TWS. AE commission scheme applies under the following circumstances:

    1. Any position close; position open; or roll over transaction after the Close-Out Deadline through account executive or 24 hour investment centre
    2. Any forced position close transaction on 2 days before First Notice Day or 1 days before Last Trading Day, whichever earlier, without prior order from client
    3. Any transaction done during the period of System Maintenance through account executive or 24 hour investment centre

  4. Does the system support Auction Order for overseas futures?

    We do not offer Auction Order for overseas futures at this moment.

  5. When will my Stop Loss Limit Orders/ Up trigger Orders / Down trigger Orders become invalid?

    Bid –Ask spread for products with low trading volume may be wide since buyer or seller may not exist for these products. Some Forward contracts may also have low trading volume. Under these circumstances, trading orders are sometimes unable to be triggered or placed.

  6. During 06:15 am to 09:00 (New York winter time)/ 05:15 am to 09:00 (New York summer time), the system is closed for maintenance, how can I place orders?

    Due to System Maintenance, Power Futures will not be able to accept any orders or enquiries during 06:15 am to 09:00 am (Winter time)/ 05:15 am to 09:00 am (Summer time). Please contact our 24 hours investment center (Tel: 852-2213 8333) or your account executive to place your orders. All successfully executed orders and the required margin will be shown on system after system maintenance.

    Example :
    You placed a mini- S&P order at 7:00 am. The order was only successfully executed at 10:00am; therefore, the system will only show the relevant entry and change in buying power after 10:00am . You will not be able to see the placed order even after system maintenance at 9:00am

  7. How long will my Conditional orders and Inactive orders be valid?

    Suppose you placed a long position mini-S&P 500 order during market hours, the order was 1) a conditional order, and not yet triggered or 2) under inactive status. At 7:00am (or 6:00am summer time), the above order will be cancelled automatically.

    However, if you order was already triggered and sent out to market, system maintenance will not affect your order. To enquire or change your order , please contact our 24-hour investment centre (852-22138333) or your account executive.

  8. Can I place an order after market close? Will my order be valid until the next trading day?

    Apart from system maintenance hours, trading is also not available after market close. All unexecuted orders will be cancelled after market close

  9. Are there any trading hour limitations on Power Futures for "Mini-S&P 500 Index Futures", "Mini-Dow Jones Index Futures" and "Mini S&P 500 Futures"?

    Unlike other products, trading of "Mini-S&P 500 Index Futures", "Mini-Dow Jones Index Futures" and "Mini S&P 500 Futures" will be temporarily suspended during 5:30am – 6:30am on Power Futures. If you would like to place order during this period, please contact our 24 hours investment centre (852-22138333) or your account executive.
